South Whitehall to Vote on Budget Tonight

South Whitehall Commissioners will vote to adopt the 2013 Operating Budget at tonight's meeting.

South Whitehall Commissioners will vote to adopt the 2013 Operating Budget at tonight's meeting at 7:30 p.m. The current tax rate is 4.9 mills and there is currently no increase included in the budget.

At the beginning of budget workshops this year, Township Manager Jon Hammer said it's been two decades since a tax increase was necessary. He warned, however, that holding the line on taxes may not be possible next year.

This year's operating budget is $13.1 million and revenue is projected to be $12.3 million. The $1.1 million cash carryover helps cover the difference and provides a transfer of a little more $300,000 to the capital reserve fund.

Commissioners will also vote on two land development issues that state the Cetronia Ambulance Corps must submit deeds of dedication for right of way and easements before the township can issue a building permit.
