Santa, Face-Painting Part of Tree Lighting Ceremony
South Whitehall's holiday celebration featured singing, story-telling, hot chocolate and cookies.
Santa arrived by fire truck to on Saturday night, on the last of a stream of fire trucks, sirens blaring, that passed in front of the township administration building.
A swarm of children, warmed with hot chocolate, greeted him with cheers and giggles and followed him inside to recite their holiday wish list.
Prior to his arrival, people gathered outdoors under the clear night sky, where they enjoyed Christmas carols sung by the adult choir of St. Joseph the Worker Church, directed by David Knerr, and music by student Erin Kelly. Also, Executive Director Debbie Jack read the classic "A Visit from Saint Nicholas."

Township Manager Jon Hammer welcomed residents, and later, Commissioner Tori Morgan led the children's countdown to the lighting of two huge trees in front of the administration building and to the arrival of Santa to much fanfare.
Hot chocolate, coffee, cookies and popcorn also were offered. donated holiday wreaths for the township building.
