South Whitehall to Purchase Four Police Cars

South Whitehall commissioners on Wednesday night approved the purchase of four new patrol cars and the upgrading of computer system in the Canine Unit.

Acting on Police Chief Thomas J. Toth's recommendation, South Whitehall commissioners on Wednesday approved the purchase of four new police cars.

Toth requested the purchase of two 2013 Ford Interceptor Sedans as well as two 2013 Ford Interceptor Utility Vehicles. The four vehicles will be purchased from KME Kovatch of Nesquehoning for a total of $100,770.

In addition, KME Kovatch will be paid $25,114 for “upfitting,” that is, transferring equipment from the old police cars to the new ones. Striping will cost an additional $2,938. That brings the total expense of the new cars to $128,822.
