Ads Available on Parkland Football Field

It's the Parkland School District's latest foray into advertising sales that could reap $24,000 for the athletic program.

The Parkland School District is following up its successful sports advertising programs in soccer and basketball by selling space on its football field for the 2013 season.

Nicole McGalla, the district's Director of Community and Public Relations, said 12 ad spaces (six in each end zone) are currently available for the five home games of the 2013 football season for $2,000 each. If all 12 sell, the district will reap $24,000 that will benefit the district's athletic program.

The football ads are A-framed plastic material signs that are double-sided and can be seen from multiple angles. The cost for production is $350. The school district will store the signs and set them up for each game.

Parkland has had success with advertising in the past, including selling ads on school buses.

McGalla said the district would like to keep growing its athletic advertising revenue. The district brought in $2,000 in soccer ad revenue and $6,000 in basketball ad revenue last year.

"The signs are well-read. We haven't had a single complaint," McGalla said.

She added that the signs will not be visible to students during physical education classes. In addition, no ads for fast food, cigarettes, tobacco products or alcohol are allowed under district guidelines.

McGalla said advertising spaces for this school year's soccer and basketball seasons are still available.
