All Parkland Teachers Need Web Sites by Fall

Parkland School Board is requiring all Parkland teachers to have Web sites by the start of 2012-2013. The board recognizes 11 "Parkland Technology Integrators."

The Parkland School Board approved a policy Tuesday night that requires all school district teachers to create and maintain a website by the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year.

The purpose of the website is to improve and expand communication with parents and students, and it must be updated weekly to ensure that content is accurate.

However, in reality only a few teachers in the Parkland School District have not yet developed a website, according to Tracy Smith, assistant to the superintendent for operations.

Prior to the board meeting Tuesday, Smith said that two members of the technology staff, Jason Henry and Joan McCue, have worked hard this year to help teachers get their websites established.

Technology plays a prominent role in Parkland School District classrooms. On Tuesday night, the school board recognized 11 teachers as “Parkland Technology Integrators” because of their success in using technology to improve instruction and student learning.
