Directors Applaud Parkland School District's Reaction to Intruder
Parkland Superintendent Richard Sniscak said he received only one phone call from a parent after a false alarm that triggered a massive manhunt at Parkland High School last Friday.
Parkland School Directors commended Superintendent Richard Sniscak Tuesday night for a job well done during last Friday's intruder alert scare at the high school.
"Thank you again for Friday evening...it was very exciting and also very humbling," said Board President Jayne Bartlett.
The false alarm, spurred by a teacher who reported a student wearing what appeared to be a suicide-bomb vest who was acting suspiciously, resulted in 33 emergency responders and the evacuation of the school.

"Honestly, I had one phone call at 7 p.m. the night it happened wondering what was happening," Sniscak said after the meeting. "Comments I got over the weekend were that everyone was happy with the response."
Lehigh County District Attorney James Martin released a statement Tuesday that commended law enforcement agencies on their response to the "intruder."

"With a sixth and eighth grader in the district I would not have hoped the situation would be handled any other way," said Director Mark Hanichak.
