LANta and LCCC Partner to Extend Night Bus Schedule

Lehigh Carbon Community College students without transportation had to walk home if they missed the last bus of the night.

Allentown, PA ---- Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANta) has announced the addition of two late night bus trips from Lehigh Carbon Community College’s Schnecksville campus to the Allentown Transportation Center (ATC).  The new service is effective with the start of the current academic semester.  The added service is the result of a funding partnership between LANta and LCCC under which LCCC guarantees LANta a certain amount of revenue to cover the cost of the added trips.

“The two new trips from LCCC will help students who take evening classes get back to Allentown where they can access several of our other bus routes to get home,” said Owen O’Neill, LANta’s Director of Planning. “We are pleased to partner with the college in making educational opportunities available to even more students", he added.

The new trips on LANta's Bus Route 218 depart from the Schnecksville campus Monday through Friday (during the fall and spring semesters) at 8:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.  Like all trips on Route 218, they terminate at the ATC at 7th and Linden Streets in Allentown.  Currently, the last trip leaves the Schnecksville campus at 6:25 p.m. The new service to the main campus will enable students to take advantage of even more academic and social opportunities at LCCC.

Several LANta buses daily serve LCCC’s Donley Center at 7th and Hamilton Street. in downtown Allentown with several routes connecting throughout the two-county region.
