Parkland Hires Mark Lapos to Oversee Buildings and Grounds

He will replace Dale Reitz, who retires this fall after 21 years of service.

Parkland School Board voted Tuesday to promote Mark J. Lapos to director of school services at an annual salary of $100,000.

Lapos has been the assistant director of school services for two years but is taking over for Dale Reitz, who is retiring in the fall after 21 years with the district. The position requires him to oversee transportation, maintenance and buildings and grounds for the district.

Lapos' prior work experience included a 27-year career at PPL Corporation where he held engineering and management positions, according to Nicole McGalla, Parkland spokeswoman.

"Over the past two years, Mark has demonstrated incredible knowledge in all school services related tasks and functions and a desire to continually learn and improve," Superintendent Richard Sniscak said in a prepared statement. "He is a positive role model and team player which made it an easy decision to promote him to the director role."
