The Parkland School District has a new school services director.
The school board voted Tuesday night to give that job to David Keppel, who will oversee transportation, maintenance, buildings and grounds for the district.
Keppel replaces Mark Lapos who recently left the district for a career in the utilities industry.
Before coming to Parkland, Keppel worked as facilities manager/supervisor of buildings and grounds for the Palisades School District, where he oversaw projects that included several multi-million dollar school renovations.
“We were impressed by his overall professionalism and his background as well as his excellent analytical skills, thoughtful communication skills and his overall interpersonal skills," Parkland Superintendent Richard Sniscak said in a news release.
"Based upon his previous experiences and comments from his references, we believe David will have a smooth transition to his new assignment in the Parkland School District.”
