Parkland History Teacher Honored

Dale Ritter has received a Citizenship in Education Teacher of the Year Award.

Joe Zeller, commander of VFW Post 12099, presented the award on Dec. 20 at a Parkland School Board meeting.

A teacher from the elementary, middle and high school levels are nominated on a local level, then a regional competition is held to determine the state winners.

Ritter is the high school winner representing Pennsylvania.

Parkland High School has had two state student winners in the Voice of Democracy essay contest under Ritter’s guidance, according to a prepared release.
