Parkland Student Heads to MathCounts Nationals

Yogeshwar Velingker, a 7th grader at Orefield Middle School, took first place at the MathCounts state competition in Harrisburg, winning a $6,000 scholarship.

Orefield Middle School 7th grader Yogeshwar Velingker received first place in the MathCounts state competition in Harrisburg on March 26. The win comes with a $6,000 scholarship. 

He will represent Pennsylvania in the national competition at Orlando, Fla. 

Teachers Brian Fulmer of Orefield Middle School and Kevin Hallman of Springhouse Middle School ran the Parkland MathCounts program.

On Tuesday, the Parkland School Board congratulated Yogeshwar on his award.
