Q&A With Parkland H.S. Baseball Coach Tony Galucy

Ninth-year coach encourages his players to do as much as they can during their four years of high school.

Spring sports season is underway and that means Patch will again introduce you to high school varsity sports coaches and athletes. Today's question and answer session is with Parkland baseball coach Tony Galucy, a mathematics teacher at the high school.

Name: Tony Galucy

Team: Parkland High School varsity baseball.

Year: Ninth.

High School and College: Dieruff High School (1989), Seton Hall University and Mansfield University.

Sports played: High School:  baseball and football; College: baseball.

Highest career achievement:  Played in the 1992 and 1993 College World Series finishing second in 1992. Named All-American second baseman 1992. Coaching in the (PIAA) state finals in 2009.

Coaching mentors:  Rich Sniscak, Rich Fatzinger and Mike Marcks.

Coaching philosophies:  Our program supports the multi-sport athlete.  Our staff encourages our players to go out and do as much as they can during their four years of high school.  We want our players to look back after graduation and say they enjoyed playing baseball at Parkland.

Coaching goals:  Our goal is to simply get better every day.  If we do that, then we will put ourselves in the position to win league, district, and state titles.

Off the field:  Spend time with my wife Lori and three kids, Stephen, age 12, Madison and  Mackenzie, age  9.  We enjoy taking trips to the beach, going to Phillies games, and going out to eat.
