Seventh Grader Wins Springhouse Spelling Bee

The winning word was "philologist."

Seventh grader Jesse Huang is the winner of this year's Springhouse Middle School Spelling Bee, after correctly spelling philologist in a competition at the school last week.

A philologist, for those who are wondering, is a humanist who specializes in the study of literature, according to online dictionaries.

Huang had a perfect score in the preliminary round, which is a written test, then competed against 11 other contestants in six through eighth grades for the championship title.
