'Wellementary' Program Designed to Inspire Healthy Habits for Parkland Families

The purpose of the program is to educate Parkland School District families on how to develop healthy lifestyle habits.

The Parkland School District recently announced a partnership with Parkland Family Health Center and physicians Breanna Henry, D.O. and Nicole Sully, D.O., as part of a new wellness initiative for elementary school students and their families. 

The partnership will offers a series of free programs for elementary families called 'Wellementary,' during the upcoming school year.

The purpose of is to educate families on how to develop healthy lifestyle habits.  Each program will include health tips, instructions for making healthy food and healthy food choices and fun physical activities that can be done as a family. 

Door prizes will be raffled off at each event and each time a family attends, they will be entered to win the grand prize: a weekend family retreat at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie.

The four free sessions are open to all Parkland School District families as follows:

October 17/Orefield Middle School Cafeteria

Kick Start Your Health
Smoothie station and cardio kickboxing

Family Fitness – Let’s Get Physical
Healthy cooking demonstration and family Zumba fun
Door Prize:  Indoor Fitness Package

January 15, 2014/Orefield Middle School
Healthy Bites
Make healthy snacks and yoga for the whole family
Door Prize:  (2) Bounce U Gift cards 

April 9, 2014/Springhouse Middle School
Olympian Wisdom
Learn to grow a garden and hear from Olympic Gold Medalist Marty Nothstein.
Door Prize:  One children’s bike and bike helmet
