Alexis Puzzella Awarded High Girl Scout Honor

Alexis Puzzella's project included the resurfacing of two volleyball courts at Covered Bridge Park.

South Whitehall resident Alexis Puzzella, 19, has achieved Girl Scout’s highest award, the Gold Award.

She was pinned with an eight-pointed star that has rays radiating from a central trefoil. 

The Lehigh County Commissioners began a recent meeting by honoring Puzzella, along with three other Gold Award recipients — Meredith-Anne Beam, Avani Dalal and Colleen Vandergrift. Chairman Brad Osborne presented them with their Gold Award certificates.

Only 5 percent of eligible Girl Scouts receive the prestigious award for outstanding achievement and public service.

Puzzella is a member of Girl Scout Troop 697, which meets at Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown. Prior to achieving the Gold Award, she earned the Bronze Award in 2005 and the Silver Award in 2008.

“My project included resurfacing two volleyball courts at , installing new benches, repainting the lines and landscaping the nearby flagpole area,” Puzzella said.

Puzzella has completed her freshman year at Lehigh Carbon Community College. She hopes to enter the medical field, but is undecided as to what aspect of the medical profession she will pursue.

The daughter of Gary and Barbara Puzzella, she enjoys writing, photography and volleyball.

She is employed at and works in the electronics department.
