'Tikkun Olam' is Collecting Food for Local Families in Need

The Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley's young adult social action group is collecting food for the Jefferson Elementary Food Bank through Friday, Dec. 16.

The Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley’s young adult social action group, Tikkun Olam (in Hebrew: Repairing the World) is collecting non-perishable protein items for the Jefferson Elementary School food pantry.

The “Power’em Up! Protein Food Drive” will run through Friday, Dec. 16.

Items that are most in need include tuna cans, beans, peanut butter, non-refrigerated milk, canned meats and lentils, according to a release from the Jewish Federation.

Collections bins are located in most Jewish institutions around the Lehigh Valley, including the Jewish Community Center, the , , Congregation Sons of Israel, Congregation Keneseth Israel, Congregation Brith Sholom, Temple Covenant of Peace, and Bnai Abraham Synagogue.

Additionally, all offices are participating in the protein drive.

Donation boxes are available at the offices on Pond Road, 17th Street, Laurys Station, Center Valley and Trexlertown.  The office of pediatrician Dr. Scott Rice on 17th Street is also taking part in this initiative, as well as the Human Performance Center at 250 Cetronia Road.
