S. Whitehall 2014 Budget Talks, Greenawalds Fire Co. Open House This Week

  • The Parkland High School Multicultural Leadership Society's campaign to end bullying continues Monday. Students and staff are invited to stand up against bullying by wearing a blue shirt Monday to show support. October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month.
  • The South Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners will hold their first meeting on the proposed 2014 budget from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the township building, 4444 Walbert Avenue.
  • Parkland Community Library presents an evening concert from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with classical guitarist Zachary Grim, who is on tour for his debut album.
  • parent forum fall workshop will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Parkland High School, Room C220.
  • The Parkland Community Library presents its monthly Night at The Movies at 6:30 p.m.Wednesday.  Each month, the library hosts the exclusive screening of a unique and often award-winning film. Under the licensing agreement, the library is not permitted to list titles here. Please call 610-398-1361, or stop into the library.
  • The race for the Lehigh Valley Conference football title and a District 11 playoff berth is getting hot. The Parkland High school varsity football team is right in the middle of the fray. The Trojans will travel to Bethlehem Area School District Stadium Friday night to take on Freedom. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
  • Greenawalds Fire Company will host an open house from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the station, 2500 Focht Ave. (Note: The hours were changed because of a scheduling conflict.)
  • Tickets are on sale now for Parkland High School's fall children's show of "Cinderella." The show will be performed Nov. 8-10. Tickets cost $10 for adults; $8 for students and senior citizens. Ticket order forms available at www.parklandsd.org/arts.
