Amy Susan Sullivan (nee Pettersen), of Fogelsville, PA passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at her residence on Monday, April 16, 2012. Born in Everett, WA on August 28, 1965, Amy was the fifth child of Peter A. & Marilyn A. Pettersen. Her formative years in the Pacific Northwest were spent playing sports of all kinds. She even tried to crack the little league barrier to allow girls to play baseball because she could outplay all the boys! Amy graduated from Everett High School in 1983 where she excelled in athletics and academics. She was a multi-sport All State Athlete focusing on volleyball and basketball. Elizabeth Browning vanHoevenberg, 86, of South Whitehall, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in Lehigh Center, Lower Macungie Township. She was the wife of the late James D. vanHoevenberg. Born in Mauch Chunk, she was the daughter of the late Fred J. and Nora (Cleary) Browning. Elizabeth was a registered nurse for 50 years before retiring in 1999. She worked as an office nurse, a private practice nurse and worked in the pediatrics department in several hospitals. Elizabeth was a 1947 graduate of the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing. She was a former president and secretary for 24 years of The Alumni Association of the School of Nursing. Elizabeth played with bridge groups for many years, was an avid gardener and enjoyed nature. Adam W. Stephens, 93, of Cetronia, passed away, Thursday, April 12, 2012 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown Campus. He was the husband of Irene D. (Warmkessel) Stephens. They celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary, Monday, April 9. Adam was born in Allentown, a son of the late William and Cora (Litzenberger) Stephens. He was employed at the Crest Plaza State Store for 25 years before retiring as the manager in 1975. Adam was a Navy Veteran of World War II, where he served as a Seabee. He was a member of Cedar United Church of Christ, and Boy Scouts of Amerca,Troop #29, both of Cetronia. Adam founded the Cetronia Ambulance Corps in 1955. The two brothers who died in a fire on Walbert Avenue Feb. 22 were buried by the county in Cedar Heights Cemetery in South Whitehall because no remaining family could be found.

The brothers who died Feb. 22 in a house fire on Walbert Avenue, were buried by the county this week because no one claimed the bodies, according to The Express-Times. Russell L. Hutchison, 43, was pronounced dead at 3:41 a.m. Feb. 22 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, according to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim. And his brother, Michael, 48, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:55 a.m. The men died from smoke inhalation, according to the autopsy report. Firefighters had pulled the men out of the second floor of the burning home. Authorities later said the cause of the fire was careless smoking. Kelly Lee Hite, 46, of Stroudsburg, died early Saturday morning, October 15, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Jackson Township. Born on December 14, 1964 in Summit, NJ, she was the daughter of Dale (Weservelt) Butt and the step-daughter of Lee Butt of Hobe Sound, FL. She was the daughter of the late Ronald Woods. Kelly was a dedicated mother, loyal friend and overall a kind hearted person. She was a great person to talk to whether giving advice or acting as a shoulder to cry on. She touched all that she met and was a mother figure to more than just her three children. Kelly lived in Monroe County for the past 10 years. James H. Weber, 60, of Germansville, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 in his home. He was the husband of Linda R. (Arbegast) Weber. The couple celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary last June 15. Born in Philadelphia, December 27, 1950, James was the son of the late Courtland W. Sr. and Helen K. (Keough) Weber. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. In 1974 Jim was hired as a laborer by South Whitehall Township. In the ensuing years he took advantage of opportunities for training, attended workshops and completed college level courses, making it possible for him to advance into positions of increasing responsibility. He arrived late and left us much too early. Brad M. Wlazelek was 29 when he died at home in Upper Macungie Township. Born in Allentown, the son of Bruce and Ann Wlazelek with whom he lived, Brad was an incredibly smart, handsome, sensitive and talented young man who struggled off and on for years with drug problems that ultimately took his life. He graduated from Parkland High School’s class of 2000 and was a dean’s list student before earning a “professional writing” degree from Penn State’s Lehigh Valley campus in 2005. He held many jobs, including his first at Yocco’s at age 15, and his last at the Wingate Hotel, where he was a front desk clerk for more than a year.
