Wanted: 'Victims' for Mass Casualty Drill at Dorney Park

Cetronia Ambulance Corps and other agencies need 100 more volunteers for a mass casualty drill being planned for May 13 at Dorney Park. Note: You may get wet!

Wanted: Bystanders and "victims" for a five-hour mass casualty drill that will be staged Monday, May 13 at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. About 100 more volunteers are still needed for the drill, which is being organized by Cetronia Ambulance Corps, South Whitehall police, emergency management and volunteer fire departments, Lehigh County Emergency Management, the Department of Homeland Security and Northeast PA Counter Terrorism Task Force, said Cetronia spokeswoman Caitlin Stibitz. The drill will be held from 7:15 a.m. to noon.  Many of the volunteers will be used to simulate bystanders, but the agencies also need volunteers who are willing to play the role of a "victim." Pest Chemical Sickens 2 People in South Whitehall Home

South Whitehall Police report two township residents used too much pest control product in a confined space.

  On Jan. 27 at 1:44 p.m., South Whitehall Police were called to a home at 1412 N. 21st St. because two residents were experiencing respiratory illness. Police determined the residents had used a significantly high level of a residential pest control product in a small area. The occupants of the home, first responders and pets were decontanimated by Special Operations as a precaution. South Whitehall Emergency Management, Lehigh County Special Operations, Lehigh Valley Health Network Department of Public Safety and Lehigh County Animal Response team were called in to assist. Cetronia Ambulance Corps treated the occupants of the house.

Hundreds Flock to Emergency Preparedness Day

Police, fire, ambulance and other emergency organizations participate in Emergency Preparedness Day, sponsored by South Whitehall, Upper Macungie and North Whitehall.

  Hundreds of visitors flocked to the former Lehigh Valley Expo Center on Cetronia Road in South Whitehall Saturday to learn how police, ambulance and fire personnel respond when disasters strike -- and how to prepare for the worst themselves. The Emergency Preparedness Day, which offered demonstrations, exhibits and entertainment, was sponsored by South Whitehall, Upper Macungie and North Whitehall. Fire companies from Cetronia, Woodlawn, Greenawalds, Tri-Clover, Trexlertown and Fogelsville were on hand to show off their firefighting equipment. They were joined by Cetronia and NOVA ambulances corps along with law enforcement representatives from South Whitehall, Berks-Lehigh Regional and Pennsylvania State Police, and professionals from …

Cetronia Ambulance Facility Gets Go-ahead

South Whitehall Commissioners approve subdivision plans at Broadway and Parkway roads for a joint facility to include county coroner

The South Whitehall Commissioners on Wednesday approved subdivision plans for the Cetronia Ambulance Corps Joint Operations Facility at Broadway and Parkway roads. The commissioners actually took two steps that were needed before the Cetronia Ambulance Corps plans can come to fruition. First, the commissioners voted to subdivide a 96-acre Lehigh County-owned property to provide for a nine-acre parcel for the ambulance corps. Then, the commissioners voted to approve the subdivision plans for the ambulance corps project. However, commissioners refused an ambulance corps request that the township waive a $47,398 parks, recreation and open space fee. Regional Job Fair Saturday at LCCC

Sands Casino, Cetronia Ambulance Corps, PPL and Wegmans are among the employers and organizations scheduled for the job fair hosted by U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent.

  U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent, whose district office is in South Whitehall, is hosting his third annual job fair on Saturday, July 14, at Lehigh Carbon Community College. The fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the gym at John G. Berrier Hall, 4525 Education Park Drive, Schnecksville. The job fair is open to anyone seeking a change in employment. "This event aims to bring job seekers together with representatives from a wide range of employers from a variety of fields, seeking talented and capable workers for a diverse range of positions," Dent said in a release. Fire at Rodeway Inn Under Investigation

A fire at the Rodeway Inn broke out this morning in one of the rooms.

Firefighters are still on the scene of a fire today, June 26, at the Rodeway Inn, 1151 Bulldog Drive, South Whitehall. The fire broke out about 10:30 a.m. Woodlawn Fire Chief Rusty Held said a room and its contents were on fire before being doused. He said Fire Marshall John Frantz is investigating the cause of the blaze. Woodlawn, Greenawalds, Cetronia and Whitehall fire departments responded. Held said a maintenance worker who tried to put out the fire, and another person, were treated at the scene by Cetronia Ambulance Corps.

'Ambulance Chase' Raises Money for Children's Programs

Cetronia Ambulance Corps raised more than $10,000 for its children’s education and 911 awareness programs with its first annual race/walk at Lehigh Valley Zoo.

Cetronia Ambulance Corps raised more than $10,000 for its children’s education and 911 awareness programs with its first annual “Great Ambulance Chase 5K Race and Family-Fun Walk” on May 20 at the Lehigh Valley Zoo. More than 200 racers, walkers and supporters participated in the event, coordinated by Cetronia Ambulance Corps and endorsed by the Young Lawyers Division of the Bar Association of Lehigh County.  Deborah Allen, Cetronia's director of development, said the proceeds will be used to purchase a new “Andy the Ambulance,” a robotic replica of a Cetronia ambulance that will be able to interact with children in a meaningful way.  Each year, Cetronia Ambulance provides hundreds of community-based educational programs to day-care …

Plans for Cetronia Ambulance, Forensics Center Unveiled

Construction of the new Cetronia Ambulance Joint Operations, Regional EMS Education Center and Lehigh County Medico-Legal Forensics Center is expected to get under way in August.

Plans for a new facility and joint venture between Lehigh County and the Cetronia Ambulance Corps were unveiled Tuesday night during the first of three town hall meetings. The new 75,000-square-foot building, which will rise on 9 acres of county-owned land at Broadway and Parkway roads in South Whitehall, will contain three distinct areas, according to information provided at the meeting: * A section to house and provide security for Cetronia Ambulance’s fleet (19 ambulances, 12 paratransit trucks, a supervisor’s vehicle, a medi-car and a fire rehab unit) and Lehigh County’s emergency vehicles and equipment. * A regional educational center, offering community public health training programs to both the public and private sectors. * Offices…

Meet Peter Attieh: Cetronia Ambulance Volunteer, Firefighter

Peter Attieh was just 16 when he first joined Cetronia Ambulance Corps through its Teen Associate Program. He also is a volunteer firefighter.

Name: Peter Hamati Attieh Age: 19 Family: Resides in South Whitehall, with mother Basima Hamati-Attieh; father, Tony Attieh and sister, Jessica Hamati-Attieh. Community Service: He is a volunteer with the Cetronia Ambulance Corps, where he started as a youth program member, stayed involved and obtained his EMT certification. He is also a volunteer with the Cetronia Fire Company in South Whitehall and the Exeter Township Fire Company in Berks County. School: A 2011 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, Attieh will complete his freshman year at Alvernia College, Reading, this month.
