Discover Lehigh Valley is running its own version of March Madness: "Every day throughout the month of March we will be giving away a $25 gift card to a variety of eateries here in Lehigh Valley!" Check the group's Facebook page daily for a new “question of the day” and your chance to win and then comment at the bottom of the Discover Lehigh Valley blog. The winner must email george@discoverlehighvalley.com within 24 hours to claim his or her prize. Winners may be lucky enough to discover a restaurant that they've been longing to try or rediscover an old-time favorite. The Bethlehem sports bar beat out the competition at Saturday’s Battle of the Burgers.
On Saturday, Aug. 18, eight Lehigh Valley restaurants met on the field of battle (the parking lot of Green Acres Outdoor Living in Lower Nazareth) to compete in the Battle of the Burgers, a three-hour burger-binging event that would conclude with one winner. Patrons paid a $7 admission to judge the competitors based on the sliders that each cooked up and handed out from their booths. Participating burger joints were: Big Woody’s, who was slated to be the ninth competitor, was not present at the event. More than 400 people showed up to chow down -- so many, in fact, that at least three of the restaurants had to call for more burgers so as not to lose votes from their hungry judges. Popular Golden Corral buffet restaurant will be built at the former Chi-Chi's at Lehigh Valley Mall

Construction of a Golden Corral restaurant is scheuled to start Monday at the site of the former Chi-Chi's on Ring Road at Lehigh Valley Mall, according to a Morning Call report. The 400-seat restaurant could open in November. Lehigh Valley used to have a Golden Corral on Chestnut Street in Emmaus but that restaurant closed in 2005. The Whitehall Township retail strip already includes an Old Country Buffet at Whitehall Mall and several Asian buffets in nearby strip malls along MacArthur Road.
