Parkland Superintendent Richard Sniscak said he received only one phone call from a parent after a false alarm that triggered a massive manhunt at Parkland High School last Friday.
Parkland School Directors commended Superintendent Richard Sniscak Tuesday night for a job well done during last Friday's intruder alert scare at the high school. "Thank you again for Friday evening...it was very exciting and also very humbling," said Board President Jayne Bartlett. The false alarm, spurred by a teacher who reported a student wearing what appeared to be a suicide-bomb vest who was acting suspiciously, resulted in 33 emergency responders and the evacuation of the school. For youngsters wondering how to spend their summer days, South Whitehall Township has a cure for their boredom -- its six-week playground program. Funded by South Whitehall Township, the nearly 40-year-old program is open to children in the Parkland School District, providing opportunities to play sports, make crafts, play games and more, both outdoors and indoors. On Monday, June 27, at Covered Bridge Park, children took advantage of the sunny day with a picnic lunch on the playground. They burned off energy on the swings and jungle gym and by playing games.
