South Whitehall Public Works Department sent a release to alert residents that the township did not meet the monitoring requirements for synthetic organic contaminants.

South Whitehall Public Works Department issued this release Tuesday: Monitoring Requirements Not Met for Synthetic Organic Contaminants. Our water system violated 25 pa code 109.301(6)(i). Even though this was not an emergency, as our customers you have a right to know what happened and what we did to correct these situations. We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. During the first quarter of 2012 we missed a test due to the station being offline. Public Works Director Tony Ganguzza has been named to the new position of Director of Administration in South Whitehall as the township reorganizes its staff.
Tony Ganguzza, an engineer who was hired in September as South Whitehall's Public Works Director, has been named to the new township position of Director of Administration in a reorganization of township staff. Ganguzza will continue to oversee the public works department but he now will oversee finance and community development as well. He will report directly to township Manager Jon Hammer, according to an email release from Hammer. Under the reorganization, Lenore Horos will manage the finance department, Bob Ibach will manage public works and Jerry Harbison will manage community development. Tony Ganguzza, a 44-year-old engineer who has worked in the private sector for more than 20 years as well as served municipalities, is South Whitehall's new public works director. Ganguzza, of Upper Macungie, began the job on Monday, Sept. 26. He succeeds long-time director James Weber , who died in July. Ganguzza is the principal in TMG Consulting Engineers, LLC, in Upper Macungie. He also has worked as an engineer for Rettew Associates and Schoor DePalma and has been an appointed municipal engineer and certified public works director for area municipalities, according to information on South Whitehall's website. James H. Weber, 60, of Germansville, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 in his home. He was the husband of Linda R. (Arbegast) Weber. The couple celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary last June 15. Born in Philadelphia, December 27, 1950, James was the son of the late Courtland W. Sr. and Helen K. (Keough) Weber. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. In 1974 Jim was hired as a laborer by South Whitehall Township. In the ensuing years he took advantage of opportunities for training, attended workshops and completed college level courses, making it possible for him to advance into positions of increasing responsibility.
