Westminster Dog Show Features Local Chihuahua

Bill, a Chihuahua owned by Connie Newcomb of South Whitehall, paraded in front of judges Monday at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City.

Bill, a Chihuahua owned by Connie Newcomb of South Whitehall, paraded in front of judges Monday at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City. Bill, a 2-year-old smooth-coat Chihuahua, "showed well" in today's best of breed category in the Toy category, but did not win, Newcomb told Patch in an e-mail today. It was Bill's first time at Westminster, although Newcomb has shown there four other times. Her Chihuahua Rocky was an entrant last year and won an Award of Merit in 2010. Newcomb said Bill, who's registered name is Ch Stellar's Master of the Renaissance, became a champion last June and is now working on his grand championship. Two Local Dogs Make Good Effort at Westminster

Rocky, a smooth coat chihuahua, and Deacon, a French bulldog, were among those competing in the prestigious dog show. Their owners reside in South Whitehall.

Rocky, a 3-year-old smooth coat chihuahua, faced some tough competition this year at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, according to owner and handler Connie Newcomb of South Whitehall. "Rocky did not win anything, but we had fun," Newcomb wrote in an email. She was still in New York Tuesday, a day after the competition, enjoying the city. It was Rocky's third trip to Westminster. Meanwhile, Barbara Toczek was back home in South Whitehall on Tuesday afternoon with Babyface Bandits Deacon, a French bulldog, who also competed in the 136th annual dog show but did not win in his category. Two South Whitehall Dogs to Compete at Westminster

Rocky, a 3-year-old smooth coat chihuahua, and Deacon, a French bulldog, will compete today at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

Rocky, a 3-year-old smooth coat chihuahua, will compete once again in the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, according to owner and handler Connie Newcomb of South Whitehall.  Rocky is a Grand Champion, who won an Award of Merit in 2010. This is Rocky's third trip to Westminster. Newcomb said she and Rocky will be in the ring at 9 a.m. today, Feb. 13. Barbara Toczek, also of South Whitehall, said she will be showing her Grand Champion, Babyface Bandits Deacon, a French bulldog, in the 136th annual dog show, held this year at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  Toczek said Deacon will show today at 1 p.m.
