Pest Chemical Sickens 2 People in South Whitehall Home

South Whitehall Police report two township residents used too much pest control product in a confined space.

  On Jan. 27 at 1:44 p.m., South Whitehall Police were called to a home at 1412 N. 21st St. because two residents were experiencing respiratory illness. Police determined the residents had used a significantly high level of a residential pest control product in a small area. The occupants of the home, first responders and pets were decontanimated by Special Operations as a precaution. South Whitehall Emergency Management, Lehigh County Special Operations, Lehigh Valley Health Network Department of Public Safety and Lehigh County Animal Response team were called in to assist. Cetronia Ambulance Corps treated the occupants of the house.

South Whitehall Police Report Bag of Heroin Found at Target

Information from the South Whitehall Township Police Blotter.

  On Jan. 25 at 9:16 a.m. South Whitehall Police report a bag of heroin was found at Target. Sgt. Michael Sorrentino said there is no further information available as the case is still under investigation. On the same day at the same time police also reported two Dyson Vacuums were stolen from Target. Sorrentino coud not say if the two incidents were related.  

South Whitehall Police Conduct 'Operation January Slam'

South Whitehall Police targeted two areas looking for speeders on Jan. 24.

  On Jan. 24 between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. South Whitehall Police conducted Operation January Slam, a traffic enforcement operation designed to target speeding vehicles in various locations throughout the municipality. Officers used electronic spped timing equipment to target the 2700 block of Mauch Chunk Rd and the 4200 block of Broadway. In all, 45 citations and ten written warnings were issued to motorists for speeding and other vehicle code violations. Sgt. Mark Ruff said the other violations were mostly licensing issues.

Police: 2 Men, One Armed, Run from Lehigh Motor Inn

The following information was supplied by Upper Macungie police. South Whitehall Police assisted.

Two men -- one with a gun -- entered the office of the Lehigh Motor Inn Wednesday night but fled on foot when startled, Upper Macungie police said. Police were called to the inn, at 5828 Memorial Road, at 5:37 p.m. to investigate. Upper Macungie police were assisted by South Whitehall police in a search of the area for the men. Police provided the following descriptions: -- A white man, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, who was dressed in black with a hood pulled over his head. -- A man, race unknown, about 6-foot-tall, also dressed in black clothing. He had a hood over his head and a mask that covered his face. He brandished the gun. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 484-661-5911 or 610-437-5252.
