Obituary: Dr. John "Jack" Sterner

Dr. John P. “Jack” Sterner, 81, of Whitehall, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Catherine (Mack) Sterner.

They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Nov.14, 2012. Jack had his private practice in Allentown until retiring in 1993. He owned and operated Sterner’s pharmacy in Catasauqua for 12 years before he attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1973.

He graduated from Temple School of Pharmacy in 1958 and St. Ann’s High School in Lansford in 1950. He was a member of the American Association of Osteopathic Physicians. He was a 4th degree member of Calvary Council #528, Knights of Columbus, Allentown and the Catasauqua Rotary Club. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1952 to 1954.

Survivors: wife; children, Coleen A. Schrampf and her husband, Fred of Whitehall; Atty. John P. and his wife Maria of Bath; Monica LaDuca and her husband, Angelo of Allentown; Mark A. and his wife Deborah of Spring City; brother Dr. Paul E. Sterner of San Diego, CA. Grandchildren, Jessica Schrampf, Jaclyn Schrampf, Adam LaDuca, Kristen LaDuca, Ethan J. Sterner and Miss Hannah Sterner. One-step grandson RyanSariego

Services will be private. Arrangements by Trexler Funeral Home 1625 Highland St., Allentown.
