Get Out: Spring Musical, Bus Trip, Art Festival

Patch offers up ideas to help you make the most of your week.

Editor's note: It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-with-work-outta-here time.

Where/When: At Parkland High School on Thursday, May 19, through Saturday, May 21.  For a schedule of events, check here.

Why Go: The Parkland Festival of the Arts is dedicated to providing an annual venue for the various forms of visual and performing arts found within the school district’s population and the adult community it serves. A program of music, art, theater and dance will ensure that all involved are able to experience the full gamut of artistic exploration.

Price: Performances are free of charge; other events/artists’ marketplace item prices vary.

2.  Picnic with Strawberries and Cream

Where/When: Parkland Community Library on Wednesday, May 25, from 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Why Go: Parents and kids ages 2-6 can pack a lunch, bring something to sit on, and join in on an outdoor (weather permitting) story time.  Read books about picnics and the kids will get to eat strawberries and whipped cream.

Price: Free, but registration is required. Please call Hannah Killian at 610-398-1361 ext. 19.

3. Spring Musical “The Game Plan”

Where/When: Jordan United Church of Christ on Sunday, May 22, at both the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. services.

Why Go: The youth of Jordan UCC will perform their annual Spring Musical “The Game Plan.”  Support the young performers.

Price: Free.

4.  Happy Hour and Ladies’ Night

Where/When: Sam Adams Brew Pub at the Holiday Inn Conference Center Lehigh Valley on the dates and times listed below.

Why Go: On Friday, May 20, it’s the B104 Happy Hour from 5 -7 p.m. They’ll have $2 Sam Adams Pints, hand-carved sandwiches, and more.

On Saturday, May 21, it’s Ladies’ Night. Enjoy $5 Martinis, $2 Yuengling Pints, the late night menu and more.

Price: Prices vary.

 

5.  Seats still available for Casino Bus Tour to Mohegan Sun

Where/When: Sponsored by, and leaving from, Calvary Temple on Sunday, May 22, at 9 a.m. and set to return at 6 p.m.

Why Go: This fundraising trip has proceeds benefiting the SPCA. Those going must be at least 21 years of age with a valid Pennsylvania ID. You receive $30 in free slot play and a $10 food voucher. Email Jmvgbskts@aol.com for more information.
