'The Hobbit’: Trailer, Show Times, Ticket Information

Before Frodo and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, there was another epic tale from Middle Earth.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" opens Dec. 14, and it's not too soon to figure out when you'll watch.

According to IMDB.com, the movie follows the story of "a curious Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, (who) journeys to the Lonely Mountain with a vigorous group of Dwarves to reclaim a treasure stolen from them by the dragon Smaug."

The fantasy film based in a land of elves, wizards and hobbits starts just after midnight on Dec. 14.

In South Whitehall the film debuts at 12:01 a.m. at AMC Tilghman Square 8 in two theaters for 3D and four theaters for 2D. Later in the day Friday the show starts up again at 2:15 p.m. The theater is located in the Tilghman Square Shopping Center at 4608 Broadway.

Nearby, the film debuts in IMAX 3D, 2D at Carmike Promenade 16 in Center Valley at 12:01 a.m. Friday and 3D starts at 12:15 a.m. Regular Showtimes start later in the day Friday at 10 a.m.
