Jaindl Adds Stores and Restaurant to Proposed Development

Developer David Jaindl is expanding his development plans for farmland and other property off Walbert Avenue in South Whitehall. Jaindl is proposing to build a 12,000-square-foot strip mall that would include six stores and a stand-alone, 5,000-square-foot restaurant, in addition to a housing development previously proposed for the adjacent Rutz Farm.

P.J. Whelihan's wants to raze its restaurant on 4595 Broadway and replace it with a new 9,240-square-foot eatery. The new restaurant would be about 2.5 times the size of the current one.

Lehigh County's plan to rehabilitate the 155-year-old Manassas-Guth Covered Bridge took another step forward Wednesday. South Whitehall commissioners granted a temporary construction easement that permits the county to work on township land to restore the historic bridge.

Two former executives of a Palmer Township athletic equipment supply firm each face 20 years in prison after admitting their roles in a scheme to defraud schools. , 81, of Highland Beach, Fla., pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Newark, NJ to one count of mail and wire fraud conspiracy.
