Parkland Library Sets Up For Used Book Sale At Asbury

Parkland Community Library's annual used book sale will be held Friday and Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church in South Whitehall.

Volunteers for the Parkland Community Library sorted through boxes of books Monday afternoon at Asbury United Methodist Church in preparation for the annual used book later this week.

Co-chairwoman Judy Kemmerer said book donations had been "overwhelming" so far.

Donated books will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 7 p .m. through Thursday at the church on Springhouse Road and Walbert Avenue, not at the library.

The book sale will be held 10 a.m. 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Asbury Methodist Church, not Lehigh Career and Techinical Institute, as in previous years because the LCTI wanted to save electricity, Kemmerer said.

Ila Dietrich, co-chairwoman of the used book sale, said the library was grateful to the church for providing the space, especially since it was so close to the library and has a large parking lot.

Books, games and puzzles in good condition are requested.

The following items will NOT be accepted: encyclopedias, VHS tapes, audiocassettes, older computer books (copyright before 2010), magazines, or any book that is not in good condition.
