Obituary: Alice Laura French, Schnecksville and Ironton Elementary Secretary

Alice French, 91, a retired secretary in the Parkland School District, died Nov. 8. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Alice Laura (Turner) French, 91, formerly of Mill Road, Schnecksville, passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, Nov. 8, 2012, at Frederick Living, Montgomery County. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Lyndon and Jean Ury (Trimmer) Turner. Alice graduated from Wyoming Seminary in 1938. She worked at the Wide Awake Book Shop, Kingston, for many years.

After moving to Schnecksville, a place she called home for 51 years, she worked as a secretary at the Schnecksville and Ironton Elementary Schools in the Parkland Area School District. Later, after her retirement, she enjoyed her time with friends and family. Survivors: daughters, Linda F. wife of Donald Hall of Northampton, Margaret F. wife of Robert Oberecker of Macungie. son, Albert L. and wife Maria of Schwenksville, Montgomery County, PA. Three grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa, and Amanda. Four great grandchildren, Clare, Avery, Grace, and Ryan.

Services: Graveside Services, 1:00 pm Tuesday, Nov. 13, Oaklawn Cemetery, 1250 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, Hanover Township, PA 18706.
