Pedestrian Struck by SUV on Tilghman Street

Jacob Vassallo, 21, of Allentown was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment of moderate injuries, state police at Fogelsville said.

A 21-year-old Allentown man who was crossing Tilghman Street near Parkway Road in South Whitehall Monday was struck by an SUV and injured, state police at Fogelsville said.

Jacob Vassallo was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment of moderate injuries, a release said.

The driver of the SUV, David Gross, 52, of Allentown, was not injured.

According to police, Vassallo was crossing Tilghman Street near Parkway Road at 11:19 p.m. when he was struck. He was wearing dark clothing and he was not in a crosswalk, police said.

Gross was traveling south on Parkway, had the green light and was making a left turn onto Tilghman Street when he struck Vassallo.

Vassallo was cited for not crossing at a crosswalk, the release said.
