South Whitehall Woman Dies in Route 22 Crash

Veronica B. Hornstein, a 63-year-old from South Whitehall, was killed when the SUV she was driving hit the medial barrier on Route 22, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's report.

Deputy Coroner Dave Krause pronounced Hornstein dead at 12:54 p.m. at the scene. The report indicates that she was ejected from the car and died as a result of severe head injuries.

The accident occurred at about 12:16 p.m. in the eastbound lane at mile marker 319.3, which is near the Cedar Crest Boulevard interchange. The eastbound lane was closed to restricted traffic until crews cleared the scene at about 2:30 p.m.

State Police and the Coroner's office are conducting the investigation.
