Teen Who Made Threats, Brought Knives to Parkland Pleads Guilty

Nicholas Ibarra threatened to kill ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, police say. He faces up to 5 years in prison.

A 19-year-old Breinigsville man who brought knives to Parkland High School after he threatened to kill a romantic rival pleaded guilty Tuesday in Lehigh County Court, according to published reports.

Nicholas Luke Ibarra faces up to five years in prison for each charge—terroristic threats and possession of a weapon on school grounds, according to The Express Times.

Under the terms of a plea agreement, the sentences would be allowed to run concurrently, the newspaper reported. Ibarra is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 13.

Ibarra, who had graduated from Parkland in 2012, was found trespassing on the school grounds before 8 a.m. on June 5, according to police. He was carrying two folding knives.

Overnight, Ibarra had been sending text messages to an ex girlfriend, threatening to kill another boy that she had been having a relationship with, according to The Morning Call.
