Threat of 'Massacre' in Schools Under Investigation

South Whitehall Township man who talked of 'jihadists' visits to local schools now under psychological evaluation, authorities say.

A South Whitehall Township man who claimed that “jihadists” were going to visit 27 regional schools and bring about a “massacre” is being investigated as he undergoes a psychological evaluation at Lehigh Valley Hospital—Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, according to a published report.

Saucon Valley School Superintendent Sandra Fellin wrote in an email to staff that there will be an increased police presence in district buildings this week, according to The Express Times. Citing police, she said the man, who was not identified, was videotaped “staking out” an unspecified school building last week.

The man is being questioned over threats made to schools, according to The Morning Call, which quoted Lehigh County District Attorney James Martin. South Whitehall Township police are investigating.
