Law Firm to Collect Township's Delinquent Accounts

Platt Fleischaker law firm in Lower Macungie will collect outstanding fees and debts owed to South Whitehall, the commissioners agreed Wednesday.

The law firm, whose principals are William Platt of South Whitehall and Jeff Feischaker of Upper Macungie, will be paid on a contigency basis, receiving 20 percent of any money recovered.

Board Chair Tori Morgan and township Manager Jon Hammer said the firm will collect outstanding water, sewer and garbage fees as well as business privilege taxes, for example. Hammer said the firm will pursue chronic cases, though which cases it will pursue -- as far as size and length of debt -- has yet to be worked out.

The township did not disclose how much money it is owed in outstanding fees and debts.
