Township Checks Out 'Demo' Police Cars

South Whitehall police and mechanics checked out "demo" police cars on Thursday afternoon as the township police prepare to replace up to four vehicles.

It was Demo Day in the parking area outside the Police Department on Thursday.

As the township prepares to replace up to four police vehicles this year, police officers test drove "demo" Ford Police Interceptors, including two sedans and a utility vehicle, as mechanics looked under the hoods and under the body.

Lt. John Christman said the township is putting a lot of thought into the purchases, as it examines safety, function and fuel economy. "It's important to me to include the mechanics," he said, too, since they will be working on the vehicles.
