Dale Reitz To Retire From Parkland School District

He's been working for the district for 21 years.

Dale A. Reitz, long-time director of school services for the Parkland School District, is retiring, it was announced Tuesday at the district's school board meeting.

Reitz, 64, will retire later this year. 

Reitz has been director of school services for 21 years. He helped guide district construction projects nearly every year, including for Parkland High School in South Whitehall and the new Jaindl Elementary School in Upper Macungie.

He also guided major renovations at several other elementary and middle schools in the district.

Superintendent Louise E. Donohue and board members lauded Reitz for his years of leadership,  dedication and commitment to keeping students safe. They said he doesn't consider his job to be work but a labor of love.

 "I've had a long and rewarding work career," said Reitz, after the meeting. "I think it's time to step aside."

He said he plans to volunteer in the community and spend more time with his grandchildren.

A specific date has not been set for his retirement.
