Two Advance to Regional Spelling Bee

Two eight graders in the Parkland School District won their school's spelling bee and will advance to the regional bee in March.

Two eight grade students in the Parkland School District won contests at their schools and will advance to the regional bee in March.

Marali Kalra is the 2012 Springhouse Middle School Spelling Bee champion. 

Jayden Santee is the 2012 Orefield Middle School Spelling Bee champion.

The two will represent their middle schools at the regional spelling bee in March at Northampton Community College. 

They received prizes from Encyclopedia Brittanica and K-12 Inc.

Second-place winners were Claire Tang from Springhouse Middle School and Gianna Giacobbe from Orefield Middle School. They also received prizes from Encyclopedia Brittanica. 

The Scripps National Spelling Bee provides students with the opportunity to sharpen their spelling skills through local, regional, and national competitions.
