Summer Hoops: Parkland Girls, Boys in Stellar Tournament

Parkland High School girls and boys team will participate this week in the Stellar 'Catch a Rising Star' Basketball Tournament at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown.

Girls and boys basketball teams from Parkland High School will participate in the annual Stellar "Catch a Rising Star" Basketball Showcase this week at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown.

The outdoor basketball tournament, featuring teams from around the East Coast as well as local entrants, is annually the largest high school affiliated tournament in the country.

Action for Parkland teams kicks off Wednesday with games for girls squads that are split in two.

The Parkland Red Team faces Emmaus Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The winner advances to play Boyertown JV Friday at 5 p.m. The loser goes into the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament.

The Parkland Gray Team faces Whitehall Gold on Wednesday at 8 p.m. The winner advances to play East Stroudsburg North Friday at 6 p.m. The loser enters the loser's bracket.

Parkland's boys team kicks off the tournament with a Thursday matchup against Warwick at 7:30 p.m. Should they win, they'll get the winner of Delaware Valley (NJ) and Salisbury on Friday at 11 a.m.

The championship games will be held Sunday.
