Weekend Sports Preview

From basketball to swimming to wrestling, Parkland High School's sports teams will be in action starting tonight.

Parkland High School sports teams return to the hardwood, mats and pools this weekend with two home contests highlighting the activity.

The boys varsity basketball team plays its first home game of the year when it hosts Nazareth in a Lehigh Valley Conference matchup tonight at 7. The Trojans (1-2) enter their LVC schedule off consecutive losses: Scranton, Tuesday; and Dieruff last Saturday, following a three-point over Stroudsburg Dec. 10.

Parkland's girls and boys swimming team host a major meet Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. when they face Hershey, North Penn and State College in a quad meet.

The Trojan girls swimmers, third in last year's state meet, face a tough early test against Hershey, who placed second in the state a year ago.

Parkland's girls varsity basketball team travels to Nazareth tonight for a 7 p.m. tipoff in search of their third consecutive victory of the young season. The Lady Trojans (2-0) knocked off both Saucon Valley and Dieruff in their first weekend of play.

Finally, the Parkland varsity wrestling team is set to participate tonight and Saturday in the King of the Mountain Tournament at Central Mountain High School in Lock Haven. Trojan wrestlers will face competitors from Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio in the prestigious pre-holiday grappling tourney.
