Author of Civil War Biography at Library: Your Week

Also, watch out for frigid temperatures Monday night and Tuesday.

Join local author Thomas K. Tate at the Parkland Community Library for a talk and book signing of his newest book General Edwin Vose Sumner, USA: A Civil War Biography on Thursday evening.

This book emphasizes General Edwin Vose Sumner’s role in developing the U.S. Army cavalry. Books will be available for purchase at the event, which starts at 7 p.m. Please RSVP.

  • The weather may start out Monday morning seeming unseasonably warm, but wet, but don’t let that fool you. Temperatures will start to plummet by mid-day and conditions will be downright frigid after nightfall. On Tuesday, the temperature may not exceed single digits. A warm-up is expected by the end of the week, however.
  • The South Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners meet for a reorganization session and meeting at the township building on Walbert Avenue at 7 p.m. Monday.
  • The Parkland Community Library hosts its monthly Night at the Movies at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Every month the library hosts an exclusive screening of a unique and often award-winning film. Under the licensing agreement, the library is not permitted to list titles. Please call or come into the library for the information.
