Lisa Folajtar, Neighbor

A few years ago, Lisa Folajtar was leaving an indoor shoot when she made the joke that would change her life.

The springtime competition was held in an aging, traditional archery center. The heat inside was sweltering; it was like shooting in an oven. As Folajtar walked out, she turned to friend A.T. Gillespie and, laughing, said, “My archery center will have air conditioning.”

Three years later, she actually has an archery center – Archery Addictions in Walnutport, Pa. And it does indeed have air conditioning.

Folajtar came to the sport late in life, but took to it immediately – “jumping in with both feet,” she says. She’s become one of the top female masters target shooters in the region, a JOAD instructor, a hunter and the vice president of the FITA Archers of Pennsylvania.

Folajtar enjoys watching her grandchildren shoot – and she loves owning her own archery center. Archery Addictions may have sprouted from a quip, but it’s become the facility its founders always dreamed of.
